EGGY (US)

A band whose output is defined by a keen sense for change and continuum, EGGY keep their feet firmly planted in the DIY. Forging songs from fuzzwar tones and analogue frequencies, their reverence for the mechanistic sounds of the 70’s always present aside a love for what was reimagined through the 90’s and into the 00’s. Continuing the nuances and simplicities of all good pop music, whilst adhering to the world of soundtrack obscurities and beyond. Taking notes from influences John Cale, Stereolab, and The BBC Radiophonic Workshop - their live show is an ever evolving shift of creative energy. Enveloping halls and ballrooms with cello and overdriven violin, or in clubs and bandrooms with saxophone and blown out riffs. The thread between static intensity and agile restraint taut from start to fin.

Their latest album, With Gusto, released through Flightless Records (King Gizzard and The Lizard Wizard, Amyl and The Sniffers), was named Album of the Week by both 3RRR and 4ZZZ and was featured in Henry Rollins' top 11 albums of 2022 on KCRW. Following With Gusto, they released Open Field in 2024. Written and intended as a three part odyssey, these seven minutes and fifty one seconds traverse through the sounds of a band who keep conviction as their touchstone. Taking notes from the Düsseldorf and Berlin schools of the 70’s, these drifting melodies and mechanistic rhythms hold court alongside the

climactic intensity of a group forged by the 00’s New York underground.

COWARDS

DONIA NO

VEXOVOID

Vexovoid is an Italian Progressive Thrash Metal band born in Tuscany in the early 2014 when Danny, Leonardo and Salvatore find themselves playing in the same Thrash Punk band. After some time they decide to work on a new project mixing furious and complex sounds with some Sci-Fi atmosphere. Immediately after the publication of the EP "Heralds of the Stars", Salvatore quit the band for personal reasons, returning to live in Sicily, and leaving the band unable to bring on the stage their new recording effort. The remaining members where in search of a replacement, waiting for the return of Salvatore, when they found Mattia Mornelli (Human Decay's Drummer) as a live member but waiting for further confirmations. The trio is now ready to travel everywhere in the galaxy and bring the news of a new age. A new modern space age of battles and fucking lasers. 'Cause they are the Heralds. The Heralds of the Stars.

MEKONS (UK)

Sonic adventurers, punk rock fundamentalists, exuberant luddites, willing outcasts.

“The Mekons are the most revolutionary group in the history of rock ‘n’ roll” – wrote rock critic Lester Bangs

The genre-defying Mekons formed in Leeds, England in 1977. Born from the emerging British punk scene, they progressed from art students with no musical skills to the prolific, raucous progeny of Hank Williams. This current classic line-up has remained intact since the mid-1980s, continuing to regularly tour and release new music through to now. Theirs is an improbable history – a surprising and influential embrace of folk and country music with occasional forays into the art world. They have always worked collaboratively and collectively with all work credited to the band, never to individuals. Their mind-boggling output consistently blurs the lines between high art and low and has included exhibitions in the UK and US, a deranged pirate musical recorded and staged with Kathy Acker, an art performance with Vito Acconci, and several books including the unique art catalog/unfinished novel Mekons United. "Revenge of the Mekons", a documentary about the band received nationwide release in 2015 on Music Box Films. The Mekons continue to make bold, unpredictable music while staying true to the punk ethos. Their mind-boggling output consistently blurs the lines between high art and low and they remain one of the truly great live bands.

Their last album "Exquisite" was recorded completely remotely during the early months of lockdown and released on Bandcamp in June 2020. The band are working with Fire Records on their new album which comes out in 2025. The single from that album "You're Not Singing Anymore" will be released on Fire Records in early November 2024.

KONTRAVOID (CAN/US)

Kontravoid’s masked mystique has remained for over a decade. Ever since the release of his self-titled LP in 2012, the Canadian-born, Los Angeles-based Cameron Findlay has perfected dark pop with his oeuvre that teeters between the EBM, electro and goth genres. His productions, such as 2019’s “Too Deep” and 2021’s “Faceless,” dive to the most derelict corners of foggy, strobe-lit clubs: there is no choice but to dance. But there is an uncanny softness and obvious songwriting ability to compose heart-wrenching songs that are both captivating and drenched in melancholy—2018’s “Undone” has been a fan favorite since it came out on Berlin’s Fleisch Records. Onstage, Kontravoid demands the audience’s attention with his powerful performance that balances his specific concoction of harsh beats with his signature bass line rhythmic patterns. He’s toured alongside Boy Harsher, ADULT., Drab Majesty and Hide, and has remixed the likes of Schwefelgelb and Kris Baha. Truly a man of the shadows, Kontravoid is an unparalleled fixture in the dark electronic arena.

BORDER. (IT)

DVNE (UK)

Formed in Edinburgh in 2013 by displaced Frenchman Victor Vicart and native Scot Dudley Tait, post-metal prog-sludge artisans Dvne have been building a powerful head of steam since their second album, 2021's kaleidoscopically mesmerising Etemen Ænka. Their first release for the legendary Metal Blade Records label, the LP was a concerted hike up the greasy pole for this enigmatic outfit, enabling Dvne to embark on UK and European headline tours and win spots at such discerning festivals as Hellfest, ArcTanGent, Desertfest, Damnation and Resurrection. A live EP of reimagined album tunes, 2022's Cycles Of Asphodel, kept up their profile while satiating demand from a rapidly mushrooming fanbase, and now in 2024, stunning third album Voidkind looks set to propel this expanded five-piece line-up (welcoming Maxime Keller on keyboards) to the top of their game.

THE NECKS (AUSTRALIA)

The Necks are one of the great cult bands of Australia. Chris Abrahams (piano), Tony Buck (drums), and Lloyd Swanton (bass) conjure a chemistry together that defies description in orthodox terms.

Featuring lengthy pieces which slowly unravel in the most mesmerising fashion, frequently underpinned by an insistent deep groove, the eighteen albums by The Necks stand up to re-listening time and time again.

The deceptive simplicity of their music throws forth new charms on each hearing. Not entirely avant-garde, nor minimalist, nor ambient, nor jazz, the music of The Necks is possibly unique in the world today.

UZEDA (IT)

Uzeda is an Italian quartet (Giovanna Cacciola on vocals, Raffaele Gulisano on bass, Davide Oliveri on drums, Agostino Tilotta on guitar) that represents one of the most original takes on noise-rock of the 1990s. Out of Colours (A.V. Arts, 1991), Waters (A.V. Arts, 1993) and the four-song EP 4 (Touch and Go, 1995) slowly cemented a style that is both brutal and lyrical, fierce and mercyful, physical and psychological, but never derivative of the American masters of noise-rock.

After 13 years from the last releases, the band with the beloved friend Steve Albini recorded Quocumque Jeceris Stabit released through Overdrive in EU and Temporary Residence in USA.

SIX ORGANS OF ADMITTANCE (US)

Once again, Six Organs of Admittance showcases the intricate tangle of fingers on the fretboard and flash of lens flare slicing the air, as the future arcs 360 degrees around to become a part of the past as well. Oscillations in this glass bowl ripple outward eternally, but are rooted on the ground where all the creatures are moving and communing; humans too. An intimate cosmic expression, file under: rural-industrial psych, ecosystem goth.
