Il 24 aprile 2013, ancora fresco di pubblicazione di un album su PAN e di uno split con Oneohtrixpointnever, Jeff Witscher è stato invitato a Londra a suonare una Boiler Room come Rene Hell. I suoi sforzi sono stati ricompensati con un paio di occhiali da sole e una birra.
Pubblicato quattro anni dopo ‘What Happens on Earth Stays on Earth’, opera multimediale presentata nel 2020 a Issue Project Room, ‘Think Differently’ scritto con Jack Callahan, agitatore dell’underground newyorkese e fondatore di nina protocol, decostruisce la loro esperienza musicale e rimescola i suoni dell’hard rock americano post-grunge, di shoegaze e MTV rock per raccontare lo stato dell’industria e le sue contraddizioni, in una ispirata combinazione di stupida beatitudine e sagace ironia.
Venerdì prossimo con lo showcase di scribble, crew berlinese che invita Laurén Maria, il producer e batterista Ludwig Wandinger (il suo ultimo LP è stato pubblicato da Caterina Barbieri su light-years), gli algoritmi bass di nesso e Nocturnerror.

TOBY DRIVER / ALORA CRUCIBLE (US/MEX)
oby Driver is a composer and multi-instrumentalist who navigates between genres. He is “a tirelessly inventive recording artist” (PopMatters) with a prolific career of over 20 years. His work–– impressionistic, architectural and emotionally vulnerable––has been described as “unlike any other” (The Quietus), displaying “A greater vision of how music can evoke feelings both grandiose and devastatingly intimate.” (Vice/Noisey). His multifarious projects share a sensitive and detail oriented composition ranging from the metaphysical to the avant-garde, and an insatiable search for the new: there's “absolutely nothing to compare it against.” (Echoes and Dust)
ALORA CRUCIBLE, his most recent musical identity, explores transcendental instrumental music with Driver on guitar and hammered dulcimer in collaboration with violinist Timba Harris and keyboardist Ana Cristina Pérez. With their recent second album, Oak Lace Apparition, released on the enigmatic and elite House of Mythology label in the company of titans Ulver and Current 93, Alora Crucible has made a strong and enduring statement about this music's exalted place in Driver's diverse body of work.
Ana Cristina Pérez is a writer and musician from Morelia, Mexico, based in Connecticut. In her sonic explorations, she combines field recordings, poetry and synthesizers, creating from a space between language, sound and story. She has collaborated music and sound for audiovisual projects and performance, and as a writer she has collaborated in works of Ludovico Ensemble, Bloodmist, Marina White Raven, MV Carbon and Charlemagne Palestine, and others.
Timba Harrisis an American violinist, trumpet player, and composer. His long list of collaborations includes Amanda Palmer, Frank Ocean, Mr. Bungle, Secret Chiefs 3, John Zorn, SunnO))), Gyan Riley, Peter Garland, Sort Sol, and many others. his playing and orchestral arrangements can be found on recordings throughout the experimental music world and on video games and film. Harris has performed in theaters, halls, clubs, and festivals in over 45 countries throughout North America, South America, Europe, the Middle East, Asia, and Australia. He has been based in several locations during his career, including Los Angeles, Santa Cruz, Seattle, New York, England, and France.

THE DEVILS
THE DEVILS si formano a Napoli nel 2015. I loro primi due album Sin, You Sinners! (2016) e Iron Butt (2017) sono prodotti da Jim Diamond (The White Stripes, The Sonics) e pubblicati da Voodoo Rhythm Records. Dal 2016 sono costantemente in tour, con oltre 600 spettacoli in tutta Europa, Regno Unito e Canada.
Gianni Blacula stupra la chitarra ed Erika Switchblade picchia la batteria. The Devils incarnano il suono definitivo del caos; il loro stile è primitivo, carico di sesso, peccato e Rock’n’Roll. Sono selvaggi, molto rumorosi e carnali. Il nome del duo è stato scelto come tributo alla pellicola di culto “The Devils” (1971) di Ken Russell.
Il loro terzo disco Beast Must Regret Nothing (2021) è prodotto da Alain Johannes (QOTSA, Them Crooked Vultures, Chris Cornell, PJ Harvey) e vede la partecipazione di Mark Lanegan alla voce in “Devil Whistle Don’t Sing”. La collaborazione col poliedrico musicista Johannes prosegue nel seguente album in studio Let The World Burn Down, che lui ha mixato, masterizzato, nonché suonato l’assolo di chitarra nel pezzo ‘Horror and Desire’. Questo quarto lavoro in studio è uscito a febbraio 2024 per Go Down Records, che pubblicò il primo album dal vivo di The Devils a gennaio 2023. Nel 2025 celebrano il loro 10° anniversario
con il quinto album Devil’s Got It, un disco di cover blues e soul mixato e masterizzato ancora da Alain Johannes.
La band è stata in tour con grandi artisti come The Sonics, Jon Spencer & The Hitmakers, Boss Hog, Mudhoney, GBH e molti altri. Si sono inoltre esibiti in diversi importanti festival europei, tra cui Azkena Rock Festival e Helldorado.
