Later in 2003, they recorded self-titled 4-track demo, which caught the attention of the US label Necroharmonic, and the year 2005 saw the release of their first full-length album Dissected Humanity. Amid the trend of ultra-fast brutal death in the scene back then, the response was quite satisfactory, and they started to get a number of offers for split releases, and so far they have released 21 splits with bands from around the world. In late 2011, they parted ways with Yoshio after performing at Rites of Darkness Fest in San Antonio. Shortly after that Yukiyasu (Guitars) joined to fill the position. Around that time, Jun and Takashi worked together and reentered the studio to record the second full-length album Decaying in Obscurity, which was later released by NWN! Production in 2012. The band have played shows outside Japan several times so far, with their first time at Kill-Town Death Fest in 2010, followed by a show in the US in 2012, a week-long tour in Europe with Undergang in 2013, and some more countries such as India, Taiwan, Singapore, and Thailand. In November 2017, they firmly established their style of dismal slow death metal as they describe themself by releasing the third full-length album Cranial Obsession, which was again released by NWN! Production. In December 2018, Yukiyasu left the band due to personal reasons, but soon they found a guitarist Makoto (from Funeral Moth). A FUKKING HARD rock band. Since their formation in 1978, they have become known around the world for their influential contribution to the origins and continued legacy of the doom metal and underground hard rock genres. The distinctive vocals and guitar wizardry of founder and driving force Scott “Wino” Weinrich has left a mark on the world of heavy music that continues to inspire. The Obsessed gained momentum in the Baltimore/DC area of the USA in the early to mid 1980’s during the height of the hardcore punk movement. Often cited as the band that bridged heavy metal and punk together, the band gained the respect of punk heavy weight contemporaries Black Flag, The Bad Brains, and Minor Threat, to name a few. The attitude and spirit of The Obsessed has led many to regard them as “America’s Motorhead”. Wino went on to join the doom metal giants Saint Vitus as lead singer on seminal albums including 1986’s ‘Born Too Late'‘. Fa parte della scena hip-hop dal 1994, ovvero da quando Jeru The Damaja, uno dei personaggi più bizzarri e creativi dell’hip-hop newyorkese, lo volle al suo fianco per registrare uno dei brani storici del rap di quegli anni (“Mental stamina”, tratto dall’album “The sun rises in the east”). La collaborazione con Jeru continua fino al 1996, anno in cui Afu partecipa alle registrazioni di “Wrath of the math”. Poi, per Afu, è tempo di intraprendere una sua strada in veste di solista. Nel frattempo trasforma il suo nome in Afu-ra, dopo aver letto un libro di leggende ambientato in Egitto. “Afu è il corpo. Nel corso dei mesi però la cosa si evolve e prende forma stabile a seguito anche dell’inaspettato feedback positivo. La loro peculiarità sono i testi che si ispirano alla tradizione spirituale del Vaishnavismo Gaudiya, i quali membri sono chiamati comunemente “Hare Krishna”. I testi dei Corpo Estraneo pescano quindi a piene mani da testi sacri millenari ma altamente attuali, come la Bhagavad-gita, e cercano di dare a chi ascolta una visione alternativa, profonda e positiva. Visione in netto contrasto con l’oblio e la negatività di cui siamo impregnati a causa dell’epoca che stiamo vivendo, che in sanscrito è chiamata “Kali Yuga”, ovvero l’epoca della discordia e dell’ipocrisia dove il materialismo predomina. Nei testi vi è la costante dell’invito alla ricerca di sè stessi che anche sul piano spirituale è sempre l’inizio di un processo di crescita e miglioramento ed essendo in italiano, posso assicurarvi che vi faranno davvero riflettere.
